In 2007 over 82 million people worldwide used mobile devices to participate in a social network and according to predictions by eMarketer, that number is expected to steadily increase to 800 million people by 2012. The rapidly growing audience is just one reason why mobile social networking is attractive to interactive marketers. Additionally, it "creates a unique context in which to promote their goods and services" and is a platform for sharing those messages among friends and colleagues.
