Top 20 Most Expensive Keywords in Google AdWords

A couple months ago I ran across an interesting chart by WordStream that showcased the most expensive keywords on Google AdWords. The chart is organized in categories but this gives you an idea of the keywords that would fit underneath each umbrella. Here’s a snapshot of the top three categories and some of the search queries.
- Insurance- Queries like “buy car insurance online” and “auto insurance price”. The days of having your personal insurance agent is becoming non-existent with the rise of companies doing business primarily through the internet. Not only are insurance companies dominating television commercials but paid search as well.
- Loans- Queries such as “consolidate graduate student loans” and “cheapest homeowner loans”. Everyone (including myself) has the desire to take their education level which is mostly due to the 2008 financial scare. Long after the financial crisis, the loans category is still the most popular and expensive on Google.
- Mortgage- Queries like “refinanced second mortgage” and “remortgage with bad credit”. Similar situation to the above category.
This chart can be used as a guide when analyzing new category expansion. When using this chart for reference you would have a better idea of where your category sits on the list, if at all.
